1、木质素磺酸钠主要用于分散、还原染料，还可作为酸性染料的稀释剂，颜料分散剂.做染料分散剂使用时,根据所需要加工的原染料强度,确定染料与分散剂的配比,确定分散剂用量后，先加一半的木质素磺酸钠分散剂与染料一起研磨,到达终点后,再加入另一半分散剂,这样会比一次性全部加入分散剂的研磨效果要好；做填充剂使用时，可在喷干前加入染料中，也可在喷干后，标准化时加入染料中；对不同类型的染料，同一品种，不同厂家生产的染料，最好先做试验确定合适的分散剂用量.2、作为高效混凝土减水剂，比木质素磺酸钙性能优越，适于涵洞、堤坝、水库、机场及高速公路等工程. 3、用于铅酸蓄电池和碱性蓄电池阴极防缩剂，提高电池的低温急放电容量和使用寿命；用于电镀电解能使镀层均匀，无树状花纹；毛皮工业上作为鞣革剂；锅炉上作为除垢剂；冶金采矿中用于高级浮选剂.还可用在农药和涂料上。
